Gramatik "Doin' It" vs. Public Enemy "Shut 'Em Down" (Bassconnect - Bang 'n Mash Edit) / Gramatik: Doin' It / Ann Peebles: I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down / Public Enemy: Shut 'Em Down

Another great mash - this time from Amsterdam's Bang 'n Mash collective A.K.A. Dissconnect who have combined Gramatik's "Doin' It" with Public Enemy's "Shut 'Em Down".

I've also posted the original Gramatik version below so you can compare and contrast, along with the song it samples - Ann Peeble's "I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down". And last but not least I've posted the video for Public Enemy's "Shut Em Down".

Shirley Bassey: Jezahel / Public Enemy: Harder Than You Think (+ Featurecast Remix)

How cool to be able to post Shirley Bassey alongside Public Enemy. I promised my friend Ruth I would post this Classy Ms. Bassey track for her (see above). It's from Shirley's 1972 album And I Love You So, and as you will hear it was sampled for Public Enemy's 2007 track "Harder Than You Think" which also samples their own 1987 track "Public Enemy No. 1". Bassey and Public Enemy - two very different sounds, but both irresistible in their own way.

And the Featurecast Remix of "Harder Than You Think" is summed up by kris-prodigy in the SoundCloud reviews on the player below... 'Oh my god that's some funky shit!' It brings in a touch of Shirley's "Jezahel" and lays it over a funked up version of "Harder Than You Think".
